Slackware 9 Package help

How does the package system in slackware9 work? I read the manual but don't know how to install the packages, i want to install gaim. I read this, gave me a good overview, but when i press current dir it goes back to the non gui console. DO i need to put in the cd?

When i view the packages i see gaim in there, and i even downloaded the tgz from the slackware site.

It sounds like you are using pkgtool. For the current directory option to work it needs to find some packages in the current directory to offer. So "cd" to the desired location prior to running pkgtool. You could also try "installpkg package_name".

Next time i'll try package_name, already install gaim from installpkg
