Slackware 9 Install: wich kernel too choose?

I'm installing my kernel from the CD and I got many kernel choice :-(... I have a Compaq EvoN610c Laptop, cd-rom, no diskette lector, with lilo multi-boot correctly configured "by hand". Wich kernel I must choose? I don't have SCSI controller. The default choice on the installation window is /cdrom/kernels/bare.i/bzImage. Thanks for the help!

Go with the default - bare.i

I think there's a bareacpi.i, that might be useful for laptops.

You won't break anything by trying out the various pre-compiled kernels, so...go with bare.i for starters. :) First thing one does (or at least, should do!) after a fresh install is to reconfigure/recompile the kernel, so...go with any kernel that boots properly. :D

Agreed. bare.i is an excellent starting point and I don't think you'll go wrong using it. Once you're comfortable with Linux though, compiling your own kernel will definitely be something you'll want to do. -- J.W.
