# /sbin/modprobe apm and rebooting. |
Yes, that's true. A lot of guys don't modprobe apm and when they start to ask around what's the problem they get a lot of answers but non of them seem to help because there's actaully no problem :) Like Kovacs said. Open your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and find the line:
# /sbin/modprobe apm uncomment it and here you go! The next time you boot up you'll be able to poweroff automatically. Actually you don't even have to reboot. Uncomment the line so that in the future you wouldn't have to modprobe manually and after uncommentig do a: modprobe apm and I think you'll be able to poweroff. Good luck! :) |

Post Mozilla-1.2.1 'textbox freeze' workaround
I found 2 posts on this forum who also had this problem:
With Mozilla newer than 1.2.1 on Slackware, it would freeze if you were type in any text field. [url bar, options, inputboxes...] You were told you were nuts but you weren't, this only appears on certain hardware and I found the workaround finally.. Before typing anything so it won't freeze, goto 'Advanced' / 'Keyboard Navigation' and disable 'Find As You Type'. The same is true for MozillaFirebird (Phoenix).. except you can't get to about:config by typing it, the easiest way is to edit prefs.js. You can all sleep easy now. |
I think I'll stay with 9.0, why bother? 9.0 works for me.

I solved the little probs (very little ones) I had at the begining (fonts and mouse wheel) by installing BitStream Vera Fonts and by modifying my XF86Config and I already have my desktop, notebook and servers with all security patches installed and working great, so.... - If it isnt broken dont fix it... :). I can think about doing some experiences on my desktop but never on my servers. I only upgrade them recently from 7.X to 9.0... 9.0 is great! :) |
