Slackware 9.1, inetd scripts are messed up.

Sometimes when I boot into Slackware, I can't access the net, and have to use one of the rc.inet* scripts to get the internet working.

Other times, one of the scripts is loaded, but is slow, and I have to unload the script and re-load it in order to get the internet to work right.

Is this something I can fix by removing an internet card module out of a configuration file? I have 1 NIC that is built in to the motherboard, and another that is inserted into the motherboard via the PCI slot. I am currently using the one that is plugged in to the PCI slot so there is no need for the module for the on-board NIC to be loaded at boot time. Could that be causing this problem?

EDIT: It seems the problem only occurs when I use LILO to boot the system, when I boot through GRUB it seems to work ok (I compiled GRUB since I prefer it).

Hi Seph64

I have not experienced a problem with Slackware's rc.inet* scripts. Perhaps the order of your eth devices is not right. It could also have something to do with hotplugging or apic.

My girlfriend's laptop (slack 9.1) had problems with DHCP after her battery died. I tried running . /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1, but it complained about files being in /etc/dhcpc/. Removing the /etc/dhcpc/ directory seemed to solve the problem. HTH.
