Slackware 9.0 installation problem
Hi,
I'm trying to install slackware 9.0 on my comp., so far with no success. I'm using the CD-ROM installation. i boot the comp. from the CD-ROM, press enter (or bare.i), and when it comes to this phase: Partition check: hda booting doesn't continue. i've tried using a mandrake (9.1) CD, and everything works fine, so what could be the problem? system: CPU: P2 - 400mhz MB: ASUS P2B (i440BX) Memory: 256MB SDRAM HD: Maxtor 6L040J2 partitioning: 1. Win2000 (FAT 32) - 4 GB 2. FAT 32 - 8 GB 3. unallocated - 26 GB |
I haven't got a solution to the
problem, but rather have to confirm it ... where knoppix (3.x) and Slack 8.1 start just fine, Slack 9 and RH 7.3 fall over at the very same point on a PII 300 .... I'm not quite sure what causes the problem, and after installing 8.1 I could upgrade to 9 and the box is running it now, goes past that check during normal boot... Cheers, Tikn |
