- open a terminal
- type xf86config ( it"will create a basic XF86Config file based on the menu selections you make")
-enter
-enter whatever mouse you have ...
-...bla bla
-...bla bla
-(forgat to say : you should have your monitor specifications handy ) enter...
- enter the horizontal sync range
- enter the vertical sync range
- write whatever you want as identifier (and now comes the good part !!!)
- do you want to look at the card database? y
- (be patient and read all the card definitions , surely you'll find yours sooner or later)

good-luck

I would think it should also support frame buffer mode as well. You can search this site for directions or post back if you need more instructions.

You also need to go to the dri web site and get the approptiate files for your voodoo 4.

http://dri.sourceforge.net/

You can read how to install it in the documentation on that site.
