According with a whistle-blower (or maybe is just about the way they keep the "secrets" in Indonesia ;) ), Slackware 15 will be released in the last quarter of the 2018.

Bindestreck 12-26-2017 07:24 AM

I believe that the next Slackware will be released sometime between 2018 and 2022.

Do you have any proof of that statement?

So, you edited your post from the Requests Thread? :D

willysr 12-26-2017 07:36 AM

i believe the edit was only available for short time and i did update the post at that time (to clarify things), but not today :)

Even so, I remember that I quoted your post where you talk about the EOL of PHP 5.6 immediately after the release of Slackware 15.

The proof of your words should have remained.

willysr 12-26-2017 07:39 AM

my statement was "The problem with 5.6 is that is going to be EOL'ed pretty soon after Slackware 15 gets released, so it's better to have 7.x for longer support (until 2020)."

I never said "immediately after release"

LuckyCyborg 12-26-2017 07:41 AM

Excuse my English, but "pretty soon" is not kinda "immediately after" ?

Anyway, you did it. Your mouth spoken. ;)

Darth Vader 12-26-2017 07:56 AM

Willy, notice that no one blame you!

Contrary, we are really grateful about this (involuntary?) leaked information.

Thank you, again! :D

No.

Consider how long Slackware releases keep being supported. Even if the 15.0 release would be right now with php 5.6 in it, Slackware 15.0 would have an obsolete php 'pretty soon' compared to its own EOL date.

When you see aaa_base updated then you can break out the champagne

That's still not necessarily a sign it will be released soon. aaa_base was bumped to 14.2 in December 2015, but we didn't get a release until 30 June 2016.

I know we all want "new and Shiny", but can we postpone this frenzy till at least until Pat V. puts the phrase Beta or RC in the ChangeLog ... thx
