slackware 14 &14.1 VT-2020 hda_intel

Well Moma let me get a new system and the new AMD 8350 is a blast for compiling and doing many things at the same time. the GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (Radeon HD3000, HDMI, 6xSATA, 4xDDR3) is not the most bleeding edge MB. But with upgrade bios it does well.

My last board had hda_intel_ realteck
But the new board has the hda_intel_vt-2020 the via chip.

Wow things did not go well. It cracked pop chirped it was driving me nuts. I do a bunch of media stuff.
Well years ago I did some stuff with Planet ccarma for some local professors here in the music department. This is where I found my answer going back to basics.
The Real time kernel. much of the RT kernel has been added to the latest kernel.
By recompiling the kernel with Preemtible kernel (low-Latancy Desktop)

I have patched and compiled many RT kernels for specific jobs. I find them buggy.
there is no need to patch the 3.10.17 kernel for the via Vt-2020

The 3.10.17 recompiled with Preemtible kernel (low-Latancy Desktop)
fixed all the problems I was having.
Since Slackbuilds still does not want to build the latest stable MIXXX 11.0 that has been stable for a year now I do it my self.
And created my own build system for it.

Big thing is the sound is wonderful. on all the programs be it default or from slackbuilds
It is nice to be able to compile my projects . Play a little Steam and multi task with this beast AMD 8350
I know intel makes a good cpu but they all grind to a halt when I am doing video rendering but the 8350 does great for me.

I hope this helps people with the VT-2020
