Slackware 14.2 fresh install NetworkManager cannot connect to router

Good morning,

I just finished installing from my Slackware 14.2 DVD as I had always done in the past. I had a previous install of Slackware 14.2 on the same machine before re-installing clean. On first boot I run as root:
Quote:
chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager && NetworkManager
The result is no connection and the GUI icon on bottom left cycles through
Quote:
Setting Network Address
but it never connects.

Here are the outputs of both /var/log/syslog and lspci.
Code:

The first line from syslog shows what I think to be the issue but I am no pro at networking. From the behavior and the fact that the method I had always previously started NetworkManager and connect to my network without issue I am starting to worry it's a hardware issue? Cabling and everything has been confirmed with another PC to be working.

Update: It is not hardware. I am posting from a LIVESLAK bootable USB on the very same hardware. No connectivity issues.

Network manager wont work with my dell 1545 either, just keeps connecting/disconnecting ad infinitum.
I use WICD now.

I had the same problem, somewhat at least I think.

Try setting "IPv4 is required for this conneciton" in the IPv4-tab and "Ignored" on the IPv6-tab.

I have no idea why it is this way, I have made a post about it before.

Try that, if it does'nt work I guess its not the same problem d:

I am running liveslack on one of my PC's and the other one is vanilla slackware configured to be as slacklive 'cause i could'nt be arsed to reinstall and I want consistent behaviour on all of my machines

Thanks to everyone who replied. I went through each of your steps once I got the time over the holiday and still had no luck and ran into the same issue no matter what program was used to configure my wired network connection. However, this prompted me to finally take the dive into trying to run -current. I am posting from the same pc running -current now. NetworkManager worked exactly as I had set it up in the past. So weird. Again thanks for the help and wish me luck with current. I have been on Slackware for 4 years now but still consider myself very much a newbie. Marking resolved.

I had to do this as well, I have documented everything to get my Slackware Laptop running smoothly...

nano /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/00-dhcp-client.conf

Code:
[main]
# Choose a DHCP client below. Upstream recommends dhclient, but results may vary.
# dhcpcd is the DHCP client usually used by Slackware:
dhcp=dhcpcd
# dhclient is the ISC reference DHCP client, part of the dhcp package:
# dhcp=dhclient
# This is a simple DHCP client that is built into NetworkManager:
# dhcp=internal
