I was really hoping I can find something like this! But unfortunately all the things I am using have slackbuilds or they do not need a slackbuild.
Perhaps try a different angle.

For example, some Slackers have requested additional Xfce packages to create a more full desktop experience. You could compile those packages, test integration, desktop files, etc. Many of those requested packages are available on slackbuilds.org, so perhaps you could create a meta package wrapper. Share your testing results with Pat, Robbie, and the forum.

Pat mentioned he is testing PAM/Kerberos. Contact him and ask how you can help test.

Perhaps patch and test the installer and pkgtools setup scripts. There have been related requests through the years for additional features.

Possibly this is covering the same territory as unattended installations, but a similar common request is adding installer options to build specific types of servers or desktops.

There have been discussions about making Slackware more palatable for the enterprise. Perhaps sift through past forum discussions to build and test missing packages.

There were some recent discussions about challenges with using containers with Slackware.

Slackware security and bug fix patching is largely forum driven. I don't know whether a ticket system would help, but perhaps test the idea based on forum reports. Just create tickets, watch the change log for patches and fixes. Possibly the results might look tempting.

Pat might still decline any such efforts, but there are a handful of third party projects achieving similar goals.

Obvious by your original post is you want to help by rolling up your sleeves.

But i would be more than happy if someone want to give the maintenance of a slackbuild to me.
If you follow the SBo (slackbuilds.org) mailing list, you'll see that sometimes maintainers reach the community and offer their own buildscripts for adoption when they can't keep maintaining them for whatever reason.

Also, perhaps we could have a sticky thread in this forum with requests for slackbuilds coming from people who can't do the packaging work themselves due to knowledge/time constraints. That way somebody like you could volunteer for something that would be actually useful to at least one other community member.

If you feel adventurous, here's an example request (it's not a buildscript though): for some time I've been wanting to run a couple of Windows things. It's a very low priority, yet certainly persistent desire. The show stopper for me is that wine requires multilib, but I run a clean 64bit system and I really don't want to trash it with multilib just for this. That's why I've been wanting for an appimage containing a multilib environment + wine. If you manage to build such a thing, it will be useful at least to me. Of course I'm not expecting you to actually do this just because I need it, I'm posting it just as an example (hopefully, ontopic), but if you actually manage to produce such a thing, I'd be happy.

Rubs chin

Perhaps an lxc container would work?

I don.t see discs books or membership there anymore?

This thread is quite old, the Slackware store has since closed.

More info on the store closing: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...re-4175634729/
From Patrick Volkerding himself: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...9/#post5882751

If you wish to donate to Slackware there's now a PayPal and Patreon.

If you are looking for Official Merchandise, I don't think there's a way to get a hold of that at the moment.

Cheers!

You need to be more clear. Is this job application? I don't know about Slackware Team hiring people.
