And on release day they said: "Thou shalt seed thee torrents", and seed the torrents I have.

On the Slackware.com torrents page, the link for the 64-bit source DVD's torrent file is incorrectly linked to the Install DVD's torrent file.

EDIT: My mistake. Please ignore. (I did not realize that the Install link was all one link, thinking that the part in the the parentheses was a separate link.)

Seeding...

GNU/Linux 09-30-2012 11:25 AM

I'm still getting errors while seeding(Tracker section in the Ktorrent):
Code:

Error: requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker

Error: Timeout contacting tracker http://tracker2.transamrit.net:8082/announce

Then I used torrent file from liunxtracker but that didn't help although tracker section says status is OK.

PS. Originally I used the torrent from Slackware site, but then I used the torrent from linuxtracker and do a data check.

It's true I got the same error from bittorrent, but I used bittornado (also in the /extras) and it works fine.

I use 'bittorrent' and have never used 'bittornado'. 'bittornado' is modified off shoot of bittorrent, what is the difference?

Seeding as well; just a bit surprised that the x86_64 iso (at least) is "only" 2.25 GB... somehow expected something ... larger :-)

TobiSGD 09-30-2012 04:01 PM

The ISOs are smaller than the previous ones because the /source directory got its own ISO. It doesn't fit anymore on the install DVD.

Here's the link for source: Slackware 14.0 source code DVD ISO (The complete source code tree for both x86 and x86_64)

Ramurd 10-01-2012 12:21 AM

I'm seeding that one as well :-)

catkin 10-01-2012 04:11 AM

There are currently 400 seeds for the 32 bit installation .iso and 520 for the 64 bit :)

Well, for one there are multiple interface methods: curses, CLI, GUI, headless. Two, it works in this situation without error, while the official bittorrent errors every time. That's enough of a difference for me to use it from now on, even tho I rarely use torrents nowadays.

EDIT:
I notice this option is enabled by default and may have something to do with why it works:
Code:

--breakup_seed_bitfield <arg>
sends an incomplete bitfield and then fills with have messages, in order to get around
stupid ISP manipulation (defaults to 1)

Seeding the DVD! Yay new Slack!

Paulo2 10-01-2012 09:12 PM

Let's get the last Slackware release :D

Downloading the torrents right now.
My upload rate is very slow (just 60kB)
but tomorrow I will seed all day.

Can I burn the content of install dvd (32 or 64)
and source dvd into a double layer dvd?
Maybe merge these two dvds into one iso with Iso Master.
