Slackware 13 and volume buttons.

I have audio in my Slackware 13.0 install by default, however the function keys to raise and lower the volume do not work. So I cannot increase the volume.

I did the command xev to find out the keycodes for my volume controls, but I do not know how to set XFCE to utilize those keycodes to increase and decrease the volume. Does anyone know how I can do that? Thanks.

You dont necessarily need xev. Just go to the keyboard settings dialog/application shortcuts and enter a custom command accompanied by the key you want to assign it to.
For example mine is
amixer -q set PCM 3dB+ -> XF86AudioRaiseVolume

That did it. I am now able to increase and decrease my volume with my fn buttons. Thank you.
