Slackware 13.37 starts, but my mouse and keyboard doesn't work

Hello all.

I've downloaded the latest version of slackware from the latest build and currently, got the minimum packages installed, just so I run fluxbox. When I run "startx", fluxbox starts, but my mouse is stuck in the middle of the screen and my keyboard doesn't allow me to switch into a terminal (annoying, requiring a restart). Here's my xorg log:

Upon reading this, I've corrected my fonts directory, and install evdev. Interestingly, I've noticed my log contains this, towards the start "[ 84.701] (WW) Disabling Keyboard0"

That must (hopefully) be the problem. Any tips please? If I'm correct too, slackware now used HAL for configuring input devices, but I really don't know where to start with this.

Thank you for your time.

Can you try to run xorgsetup from a terminal and check if that helps?

Thanks for the reply. I've just ran that. Now I'm getting an error "(EE) module ABI major version (11) doesn't match the server's version (16)"

This is my xorg config (generated by nvidia-xorgconfig):

Code:

# nvidia-xconfig: version 295.59 (buildmeister@swio-display-x86-rhel47-03.nvidia.com) Wed Jun 6 22:23:24 PDT 2012

I think you might have less than the minimum packages installed.

Perhaps try installing xf86-input-evdev?

You'll also need to fetch the nvidia driver and rebuild it for compatibility with the X server.

I'm working through that ATM. I've just got an error saying "pci/pci.h" no such file or directory. Gonna see if I can try and figure this out (I hope)

Ok, so you say you have evdev installed but X says you don't or you forgot to install a dependency. Forget NVIDIA right now since that has nothing to do with your KB and Mouse. If you are using USB devices, are you sure you included those libs and especially evdev? Did you modify the kernel and miss a few modules? Does "libusb" display your KB and Mouse? Are the USB ports active in the motherboard BIOS? If you are using the ps/2 ports are you sure those work? You checked Xorg.0.log but did you check dmesg, messages, and syslog?

Perhaps you can try this: Do a FULL install (minus KDE) and if everything works, subtract packages until you break something.

Thanks for your replies. I've just got back from work and I've decided to simply do a full install and remove KDE and other things I don't need.
