Slackware 13.37 KDE popup previews lost

When hovering the mouse over a jpeg in dolphin I expect a thumbnail to pop-up. This works for png files but not jpg. JPEG images are enabled in previews and files above 5MB are enabled.

This works fine in 13.0

Could this have anything to do with it?

So I was so frustrated by this that I did a fresh install. And it seems that even in a fresh install the previews of jpegs that you get when the mouse hovers over an icon are not working.

Seems that I will be sticking with 13.0

And the answer is:

Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> General -> Show tooltips needs to be set

Another feature of Dolphin I did not know about. I've been using the Information panel for this.

I am also advised that

Settings -> Configure Dolphin... -> General -> Previews -> check Directories.

Will enable the automatic preview of folder contents which was previously enabled by default. I have not had a chance to check this out yet.
