Unfortunately, for those of us that use XFCE, it looks like the new XFCE 4.8 won't make it into Slack 13.37 :(
Anyway, always happy to get a new Slackware!

AlienBob mentioned a while back (month+) than KDE4.6 and XFCE 4.8 are not going to be on the next Slackware stable release.

13.37... Wow, I need to buy that one :-) We don't need no stinkin' codenames when we can have 1337!

Eric has kde-4.6.1 packages, and I've got xfce-4.8 packages (both for -current).

Thanks Rob. I figured that you would likely build XFCE 4.8 packages. I will try them when Slack 13.37 stable is released.

There's a problem with changing background picture in new Fluxbox (1.3.1). I hope it will be fixed before 13.37 is out. Maybe it's not a big deal, but it's pretty irritating. I found this bug reports few minutes ago:

Just found that there are also some problems with changing styles.

wow, I had all but given up on fluxbox being updated...

As for backgrounds, I don't sync them with styles because I swap them out all the time... but in that approach, perhaps I should define styles that match backgrounds and swap those instead...

I'm just glad fluxbox allows you to override any property in the styles with a global property. I hate my font size constantly changing.

That's how I like to set my styles. It's nice to have a possibility to change complete appearance in a second, without searching for pics, typing commands, or restarting WM. I really hope they'll fix the problem before final 1337 is out. If not, there's always the "downgrade" option.

Slackware 13.37 RC1 is functioning perfectly here. I've upgraded three boxen to 13.37 RC1......smooth as silk.

I recall when they changed the background setting method in fluxbox and suddenly none of my styles changed background any more. After a while I got used to this though and simply put a wallpaper item in my menu. Now I can change backgrounds and try out a few styles to match, or vice versa.

Eager to upgrade 3 machines, and do a reinstall on another. Can't wait, but hey: I'll keep 13.0 while I wait for L33t G01d.

How long it can take to have a stable release of 13.37? I am installing a new server right now and I would like to use the new kernel.
When it can be safe enough to put it in the production environment?

I installed the l3.37 upgrade and everything went smooothly. X feels snappier :) Thanks to the V Team and all doing the work behind the scenes. Great job.

That all depends on the feedback from RC1 and how many other RCs will be needed to smooth things out. It can take a few weeks. To be honest you would probably be better waiting for the final release for a production environment. If what you are using now works then stick with that a while longer.
