No need to apologise. I'm not the Original Poster so your advice may still be valid, I was just raising that as a possible consideration because i wasn't sure how the activation would work with a VM.

And yes, when my last box died it was that old all the parts were pretty much obsolete. It was just more cost effective to buy a ready made system at retail than to source all the parts and self build a new box. Especially if you also factor in the cost of a retail copy of Windows.
