Slackware 13.0: rt61pci wlan not working and X not responding..

Hi all,

I saw the release notes of Slack 13 and I had to try it. I installed 32 bit version from DVD, with some package fails. One of them, pretty critical, was grep. I copied it from my Debian partition and that's working right now.

I still have two problems.

1.
My wlan is not working. According to lspci (see below) it is a RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI chipset. I got this working on Debian by installing two deb packages, firmware and wireless-tools. Wireless tools is already installed by default on Slack so that's great.
I found the firmware (and maybe the driver too?) on a page, but it required kernel-source, one of the few packages that failed to install because it was 'broken or corrupt'. I burned my dvd twice, maybe the iso was bad.

iwconfig returns lo only, no wlan0, which I used on Debian, Ubuntu and Arch Linux.

Can anyone help me out here?

2.
When I start X with the startx command, I get fluxbox, but.. It's not responding to just anything. Alt+F2 doesnt' do anything, the power button doesn't shutdown Slack anymore, and my mouse is disabled.

(posting lspci, dmesg output in a sec)

Thanks in advance,
Robert
