This seems like the perfect time and opportunity to remind all regulars on this forum to visit the Slackware store (once it's updated) and buy your personal CD/DVD set, or even better - to renew your Slackware subscription!
Nothing wrong with the idea of supporting Pat and I even pre-ordered 12 last night since I've been using Slackware since 10.2. But I've got a question that just is bugging me about "Slackware". Is Pat the only full time person who's on the payroll as you may say or is there a list somewhere that shows the others who are employed by him and those that just help out who may have their own projects. It seems like with all the changes in 12 over 11 there had to be a big support group working on this version but I may be wrong.

Pat is on the Slackware payroll, and so are a few people doing the administration (like handling the Store). All the others - the so-called "Slackware Team" - are volunteering their time and knowledge and do not get any money out of their work. In fact, I pay for my Slackware subscription like any other person and pay the full list price without a discount.
There is a short list of names of the people in the "core team" in the RELEASE_NOTES.

My attention span gets short reading some docs and I just missed this in the "RELEASE NOTES". Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. This is going to be a great release for all to enjoy and my thanks go to each and everyone who contributed to this release. I really enjoy "Slackware".

Also, to make my previous post clear I was NOT interested in the money part of it but the physical make up of the company and people working on this release. It is important to me that all that read this post understand where my interest was directed to, but my wording may should have been better. I know Robby's in Alabama and Eric your across the "world" from me and I knew you both worked on the release already. It's just so cool to learn something about people involved in the development of Slackware.

No way to donate via PayPal to Slackware project

Hi all!
I live in Europe and do not have a credit card,
that's why I wanted to donate via PayPal.
Well, I wrote an e-mail to info _at_ slackware.com and got an answer:
they do not take PayPal.

It's a pity, really, because PayPal is widely used in Europe.

I'd like to support Slackware, but it turns out that I can't do it.
Maybe I should get a credit Card

I've bought a couple t-shirts and case plates from the store. I'm proud to be a walking advertisement for Slackware! The "Got Slack?" one with Tux smoking a pipe gets quite a bit of attention.

I dig the pipe-smoking Tux too, but then, I also smoke a pipe.

I paid for my 10.1 CDs,and bought a T-shirt at the same time back in the day. Then I bought an 11 DVD plus 2 more T-shirts, the essentials book and a couple of bumper stickers also. One of the bumper stickers is on the back of my Slacktop's screen.

My wife will give me a hard time unless I but her some geeky goodies soon, but I fully agree with the idea of giving the Slackware team something more tangible than just our thanks for a wonderful distro.

PS, Every time I order my order gets marked as fraudulent because I am in Thailand so I have to follow up with an email to the people at the store to let them know I ordered.

I bought Slackware 10 as well as a shirt, I intend to get Slackware 12 this time around as well. Slackware 12 is a major turning point for the distribution, and I absolutely want to show my support for it.

I was considering getting it in the package deal with the Slackware Book, but I fear it is going to be just too outdated now with all of the changes in Slackware 12. I don't know if there are plans to publish a new version soon or not.

A few days late, but if anyone missed it, the Slackware 12 CDs have started shipping from the Slackware store. DVDs aren't ready yet, though.

Gotta love Slackware.

Microsoft charges for their software and nobody wants to pay it. PatV gives his away and everyone wants to support it. How cool is that? I'll end up paying more for free software than I do for commercial. Which is how it should be. Pay for what works and support the folks who provide it.

I'm agree, all of us should contribute to any distribution or software that we use.

I'll buy my DVD soon
