Hey all,

Fresh Slackware 12 install on an AMD dual core 4000+ CPU with 1 GB RAM.

When I click the K Menu button, one of the cores hits 50-60% usage, and I get a good ½ second lag before the menu actually pops up.

I did not have this issue with Slackware 11, and I don't have it on my second machine, an Intel dual core (one of the old ones, not the new Core CPU).

I know ½ second isn't a whole lot, but it feels like damn near forever when I'm used to the damn thing just flying up instantly.

It's a brand new FULL install. I haven't touched a thing yet, except running alsaconf and xorgsetup.

Any ideas?

Just tested this on my wifes Kubuntu 7.04, and she's having zero delay, and you can't even see the CPU (AMD 3500+) being used, exactly as it was with Slackware 11 and as it is with Slackware 12 on the Intel box.

This is really quite odd..

Solved..

It was X going haywire. Stopped acting funny after I installed the latest nVidia driver.
