Question Slackware 12: Disable CD-autorun/automount window in KDE

Hello!

I'm using Slackware 12 with KDE WM, and I'd like to disable annoying window that appears every time when I insert new CD (I hated this feature in windows and I don't want it in Linux), but I want system to automount CDs without showing that window. How can I do that? I've found some Kubuntu threads that describe same problem (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=90457) but it looks like I don't have "ivman" on my machine ("locate ivman" gives nothing), so those solutions won't work on my system. So, how do I disable that window?

Thanks.

There is a slackbuild for ivman on slackbuilds.org. I am not sure about any other fix.

Well... If ivman isn't installing on my machine, that probably means, that something else launches that window. Isn't that simpler to disable program that launches "autorun" window for CDrom instead of installing ivman? I just need to know what launches that window and where I can find documentation for it...

Try kde control center / storage media / advanced tab

Un-check medium autostart.

I think thats what you need, but I am writing this from memory, won't hurt to try.
I don't have kde installed so I can't check it.

I believe if you uncheck medium application autostart, then it won't load Konqueror to look at the contents of the disk after mounting. It sounds like the window that's annoying him is the earlier one that asks what to do with that media type.

Try going to KDE Control Center -> Peripherals -> Storage Media. Stay on the Notifications tab. Under the Medium types drop down, select the CD-related items one at a time. For instance, Mounted CD, Unmounted CD, the DVDs, Blank CD, Blank DVD, etc. For each one, select "Do Nothing" and then click the "Toggle as Auto Action" button. Then OK to accept the changes. That will build a set of actions for KDE to handle each type of media. It shouldn't have to ask you again the next time you give it something new.

As long as you're only using KDE, you don't need ivman - that's for automounting disks if you're at a text console and don't have a desktop environment like GNOME or KDE running.

It is already unchecked, but window still appears.

It looks like this works, although KDE doesn't silently automount cdrom.

Thanks for the help, problem solved.
