slackware 12.0 and intel iwlwifi 4965AGN

hi all,

I'm struggling with the intel iwl4965AGN driver. I have installed mac80211, the iwlwifi driver and ./loading shows the modules active. Doing a ifconfig wlan0 up returns an "no such file or directory" message.

The weird thing is that if i do an ifconfig wlan0, the output returns the device properties. Also, when typing iwconfig wlan0, the output also shows the current default device state (ie. channel, essid etc)

The problem is bringing up the interface wlan0. It seems that my system does "see" the interface but ifconfig is not able to up it. Anyone any ideas?

Thanks,
Diem

Sounds like your interface is up but you need something to give you an ip. Try 'dhclient wlan0'.

Tryed dhcpcd many times. It doesnt give any error but also doesnt bring the interface up. Ifconfig still only reports the loopback.

I have now tryed exactly follow the mac80211 installation (ie. to make a new kernel and boot into it) but now the new bzImage gives kernel panic :(

I'll need to play with it more..
