Slackware 12.* on USB Drive

Hey, Does anyone know if it is possible or how to install slackware on a USB drive rather then a hard drive, i dont plan on using it on other computers incase most are wondering so could i just stick the usb drive in and insert slackware disc and try to format/install slackware onto it has anyone tried this or is there a different approach to it?

I remember this didn't work out of the box in previous Slackware releases due to timing issues in the kernel/initrd (basically, the kernel would try to mount the root filesystem before it had finished scanning USB storage devices).

Now that Slackware is running a considerably more modern kernel however, perhaps that situation may have changed? I don't know off hand, but I should think somebody has tried recently and could report their results.

You need to use the rootdelay option to pass to the kernel, which will delay mounting the root system allowing the USB drivers to be loaded in time. However, never having done this myself, I can't help beyond that. A search of the forums for rootdelay may yield some related threads.
