Slackware 11.0

I know that Patrick is nearly the completion of Slackware 11.0, but does anyone know of the exact release date? I just wiped out my hard drive, and I want to reinstall Slackware 10.2, but if 11.0 is going to be released soon, I'll just hold off on the install.

Noone knows that. But you can download Slackware-current iso's from here:
ftp://inferno.bioinformatics.vt.edu/...e-current-iso/
Install it and track the current changelog and you'll seen be running 11.0

Why do you say that. There's no indication in the changelogs and no mention of any "release candidates".

Pat will release the next version when he's good and ready, and not before.

Cheers,

Slackware 10.2 is awesome. I have it running on my Plll 800 IBM, 256 MB RAM, 18 GB SCSI HD and it runs lean and fast. I can wait until version 11. But, like the OP I am very much looking forward to the next release:-)

Well, pre-ordering of Slackware 11.0 is available today, so that's always a good sign.

I've been tracking changelog and keeping up to date with current since 10.1 but what to do about aaa_elflibs and aaa_base that are blacklisted in slackpkg? Is there a way to update these?

phil.d.g 03-27-2006 03:13 PM

There is no need to, in fact I think it explicitly says not to upgrade them somewhere. The files those two packages provide are provided in other packages.
