Has the drive ever worked under Slackware? Does the kernel find it when you boot the PC? Do you have the right drivers loaded for the SCSI controller? What kind of controller is it? Need more info before I can be of much help. First thing I'd do though is make sure the kernel has support for the SCSI controller you're using. Check /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog to see if the kernel finds the controller and loads the driver for it. If it does then it should probe the card and find the CDRW, reporting what device node it assigns it.

my cd-rw is ide-atapi or something like, thats what i read,I can't use the ide-scsi emulation

when i installed from the 2 cd's y got this messages in dmesg

kmod failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, error = 2

but now for advice of a friend ,I compiled a new kernel the 2.6.9 vanilla flavor

y don't have any problem now, but y don' tsee my cd-rw register like a scsi

y start to read what you say y post some info of my /var/log/messages

Ok so you don't have a SCSI CDRW afterall. I was under the impression that you did from the title of the post. Can you use the CDRW at all? As in, can you mount a CD for reading in it?
