slackware 10 doesnt recognize my cdrom
Hi,
I tried to install slackware 10 on my P4 IBM NetVista and the installation process didn't start because the cdrom cound't have been recognized. I mean the screen where I could choose target partitions, installation media, packages etc. Have you any idea? Thanks, ddaas |
I dont get your question. What happens when you put in the Slack CDs and boot? Have you downloaded ISOs? then you may want to do an md5sum check.

I can boot from the cd. after a few screens where I choose the keyboard layout, a log in as root and type setup from the console, comes that screen with options. Here I have to set my partitions (swap and ext3), select the media from where the packages will be installed. Here comes the problem. I select "auto scan for cd/dvd" - or something like this. Is says that no cdrom could be mounted or that the cdrom drive is not supported by the kernel.
That's all. Here stops everything. I have already installed slackware on other computers and all was ok. I have used the same CDs. |
I am also a bit confused. If you are saying it fails when it asks where the cd is but actually boots, trying identifying it manually rather than auto. If you have a scsi box you may have to boot the scsi kernel rather than bare.i

Yeah, or you can also try to specify the device manually, if you know which one it is: /dev/abc
