are you using the default /etc/X11/xorg.conf or did you update it at all? This is where you add support for your scroll ball.

hi, just open your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file in a text editor, scroll down untill you'll reach a line somewhat similar or even exactly the same
Code:
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
and change it with
Code:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
. Then after this line add another line like this
Code:
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
. This should do it for you. When you run mouseconfig you should choose IMPS/2 mouse not PS/2 and you should run mouseconfig and make sure you choose that before editing the xorg.conf file.

In /etc/X11/xorg.conf you must have:
Code:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
This has been menioned many times ... use the search function.
