slackware 10.2 compiling kernel
Hi, i'm a newbie
i hav slack 10.2 installed, the problem is it does not play sound, i tried installing the sound driver, it says after i hav set the modules by 'make config' in /usr/src/linux i should compile the kernel 'if necessary' how do i compile the kernel? i also tried ignoring this step & moving onto 'make modules', but it showed the following error: "The present kernel configuration has modules disabled. Type 'make config' and enable loadable module support. Then build a kernel with module support enabled." plz help :newbie: |
Check out this thread for information on how to compile a kernel.

Have you run "alsaconf" from a root terminal to set up your sound card? You seldom need to compile a new kernel to get sound working under Slackware.
