Slackware 10.1 - USB Keyboard problem?
I'm running Slackware 10.1 with a custom compiled 2.6.11.5 kernel. I have a Logitech Cordless Internet Pro Duo, so I can connect the keyboard and mouse either by serial with the appropriate adaptors or by USB.
Today, I decided to switch to USB, which worked fine because I made the switch in the middle of my Linux session. But when I tried to boot up, the kernel wouldn't load. Apparently, uhci_hcd was trying to serve as the driver for my keyboard. So the bootup sequence failed. What do I need to compile (or remove) in my kernel to allow me to use USB keyboards? |
Do you still have this problem? I found your thread going through Slackware 0 Replies...

There might be an option in your bios for usb keyboard and mouse. Mine did at least.

Look at this guide for setting up your USB keyboard:
http://www.linux-usb.org/USB-guide/x194.html. Does the wireless adapter connect the keyboard and the mouse to the same usb port? If it does, that's cool. But you might have a weird looking xserver config file :) |
Do you still have your 2.4.xx kernel available? I'm curious as to whether or not your keyboard works with it. I had the same problem awhile back. Switched to or from my wireless keyboard and about a minute later it stopped responding and no 2.6 kernels would boot thereafter. For months afterwards even across entire hard drive wipes. It makes no sense to me. I had to disable legacy USB in my BIOS and then I could start using 2.6.x again...
