Slackware 10.1 Root Login Failure

Ok, running Slackware 10.1, just installed. Logged in as root once and got on the KDE, before exiting KDE I set up a seperate user name and put its directory as home/ which created issues for the user account. But now when I try to go back in as root, the password is either incorrect or I havent killed the xserver properly.

I used ctrl + alt + backspace to reset it, then rebooted, still nothing. Any suggestions??..... Please?

well...if i were you, i would just re-install, and only use a root console
to add users with " # adduser ". ( don't use the kde thing...).

Try using the boot disk that ( I hope you created while doing the install of Slack 10.1) to boot .
Then correct the problems and boot again see if it works

would reinstalling involve running fdisk or could I just run through the setup on the slackware disk again?

it is not necesary to reinstall. The install CD of slack is a boot disk by itself. try

put in your CD 1
reboot

if you want to boot your installed system : bare.i root=/dev/hda1 noinitrd ri

or just type enter, then mount your root partition and delete your roots passwd
