Question Slackware 10.1's BitTorrent

when i was using slackware 10.0, everytime i would issue the download command on a partially downloaded file, the BitTorrent client would check the downloaded parts before proceeding...

with slackware 10.1, however, everytime i issue the download command on a partially downloaded file, the BitTorrent client doesn't seem to "check" anything, it just starts downloading where it left-off right away...

any light you could shed on this would be greatly appreciated...

the command i use is basically:
Code:
btdownloadcurses.py example.torrent
thanks...

=)

10.1 comes with BitTorrent 3.9.1, which maintains metadata for torrents (in ~/.bittorrent). It uses this to pick up where it left off last time. 10.0 came with 3.4.2, I believe, which didn't save state to my knowledge.

<side note>
You might look into using the --max_upload_rate argument if you use DSL or cable. In some cases setting your max upload rate to a percentage of its actual potential (say 80 %) can keep a high upload (almost always a good thing) from interfering with (slowing down) your download.

thanks for the explanation, ogmoid... it makes sense... i'm glad it's a feature and not a bug...

=)

oh, and yeah, i do use the max upload option, i just didn't include it in my post as it was irrelevant...

but once again, thanks...
