slackware 10.0 -> sata


hi,
I just bought a new PC with a sata hdd,
after running slack install cd, I tryed "cfdisk" to partition hdd but I get this error:

Code:
FATAL ERROR: Cannot open disk drive
I tried every boot image including scsi(adaptec.s), but it's same


by the way I'm using slack 10.0

You need to select sata.i when you boot from the CD.

EDIT: if this is a new installation you need also to select sata.i at the end of the installation. Do not select the default kernel installed on the HD.

the problem is there is no "sata.i"
maybe it's because the version 10.0
could it be the reason?

Slackware 10.0 FTP does no show sata.i under kernels while Slackware 10.1 FTP has sata.i under the kernels directory. I don't know but maybe you can download the sata.i kernel from 10.1 and install it under 10.0.
