Slackware's NetworkManager and VPN plugins

Hey, fellow Slackers!

I have a stock Slackware 14.2rc2 installation and a 14.1 installation relatively updated. One thing in common on them is the new NetworkManager 1.2.2. The issue with this is that it wouldn't recognize any of the VPN plugins and tells me that "No VPN plugins installed". Tested OpenVPN, PPTP plugins. None of them get recognized.

* Packages pptp and NetworkManager-pptp installed.
* Using XFce 4.12 (no KDE packages).

What might have I missed ?

hi Klamberer|ext., welcome to LQ.

where have you installed pptp, NetworkManager-pptp and NetworkManager-openvpn from?
which versions of them have you installed?

NetworkManager-pptp 1.2.2 was downloaded from NM's website and modified a SBo script for 0.9.8 version to build a package.
PPTP itself is from SBo. (Have to check the exact version tho)

you don't have to do that: on slackbuilds.org's master git branch those build scripts were already adapted to be usable on current.

uninstall them, clone the master branch of the repository

Code:
git clone git://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds.git
and use those SlackBuilds for all of them.

on the slackbuilds-users mailing list.

if you are a current user in a regular fashion, feel free also to have a look here.

Thank you!

It worked.

I only wish I would have known before that there were build scripts for "current" release.
SBo is not too wordy on those subjects.

because SBo supports only the latest stable Slackware release: only in this transition period to the new stable the git master branch has also updates for current.
but, as you can read in the link that you can find in my previous post, also if you are using current regularly you are not left alone.
