SlackwareŽ 12.1 rc1 'Won't be long now!'

Hi,

OK, we're going to call this Slackware 12.1-rc1, though there is still some
more minor work to do. Please help test! And if we're missing anything major,
please let me know at volkerdi@slackware.com. Thanks. :-)
Experience tells me that it won't be long before the new release of 'SlackwareŽ 12.1'. That is unless a major problem pops up or PV is not satisfied with the -current for whatever reason. Time will tell.

Downloading -current now. I've used it earlier on but now is the time to get serious. To heck with the farm for at least a day. Raining again so I'm really bummed with having to work outside in the damn rain all the time. Mucky mess!

Back to the test bench and see what's up.

Just the Slackware 12.1 rc1. The full release will be released when PV decides the rc# have been fully tested and no major problems. My subject was implied that Slackware 12.1 release would soon be available.

Does anyone know why ALSA 1.0.16 isn't in -current? It's been out for a couple months now, but -current is still at version 1.0.15.

because --current is what the maintainers of Slackware deem to be stable and coherent enough. They tend to follow the KISS principle. If you need it why not compile it from source or make your own package for it?

And also because the 2.6.24.x series kernel only has 1.0.15 in it.
Even 2.6.25-rc-s only have the 1.0.16rc2 version.
