Angry slackpkg plus install file from cache - BUG?

Hi!

Discovered bug in a slackpkg plus.
If package exist in cache folder, it is always installed from there, despite exact file path.

Case: I compiled a package test-1.0.txz and installed it with:
Code:
slackpkg install file:/usr/src/test/test-1.0.txz
the package is installed and also copied to
Quote:
/var/cache/packages/SLACKPKGPLUS_file0
That is correct.
As the program do not work as expected, I changed compile options and recompiled it with the same name.
Code:
slackpkg remove test
removes the installed package correctly.
executing
Code:
slackpkg install file:/usr/src/test/test-1.0.txz
again DO NOT INSTALL the file from the supplied path! Instead it install OLD FALSE package from
Quote:
/var/cache/packages/SLACKPKGPLUS_file0
and the new file IS NOT COPIED to cache folder.

I consider this behaviour as a bug.

Spent a lot of time to debug that, blamed test sources to not function instead.

Do you have DELALL=off in /etc/slackpkg/slackpkg.conf? The default is DELALL=on.

This is the only way I can replicate this issue.

I does indeed install the package located in /var/cache/packages/SLACKPKGPLUS_file0/

Is there a reason you have DELALL=off in /etc/slackpkg/slackpkg.conf?

This does not happen with DELALL=on.

Thanks.

You are right. I use DELALL=on as a safety measure. Once I missed an older package from Slackware, and so I use that option. I'll consider to switch off.

So two new questions:
1. Why slackpkg even use cache for a local repository? It is useless.
2. Why slackpkg use cache file even when absolute path is specified for a local file? This I would expect when absolute path is missing.

The author could consider the above as a future enhancements.

Thanks for report.

It's a slackpkg+ bug. it affect every repository local or remote that not use gpg or md5 to validate packages

try that patch from test branch
Code:
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/zuno/slackpkgplus/test/src/slackpkgplus.sh -O /usr/libexec/slackpkg/functions.d/slackpkgplus.sh
it:
1) use link instead copy (as slackpkg does)
2) invalidate cache at startup for packages not having gpg signature
