Noticed recently, that with a `slackpkg clean-system` the steamclient (from alienBOB) comes up as wanting to be removed, however, it is blacklisted in my /etc/slackpkg/blacklist as "steamclient" (without quotes) as it always has been. This worked in the past to stop it from being removed with this operation.

Maybe that's the reason? As `slackpkg search steam` results in:
However, isn't the blacklist still supposed to be ignored even if the package doesn't exist within a slackpkg+ repo?

I just made a test and blacklist works fine here.

And "package" anyname was selected to remove.

and it was not selected or even appeared in list.

Could you post the exact name of package and how the line is coded in blacklist?

steamclient is a x86 package and can be found here. So it's normal not to find it in the x86_64 repository.

As explained in this post, blacklist will not work for x86 packages when you have a x86_64 system.

Your x86_64 system is working as designed:

- Search for a x86 package with "slackpkg search" gives no result
- Blacklisting a x86 package will not prevent it from appearing in "slackpkg clean-system"

That's understandable thanks. Although i'm pretty confident, that since steamclient package was first installed (years ago now) the previous blacklisting sufficed, i think only in recent months it's started to appear in the clean-system output.
