Hi all,

I've downloaded and installed Frozen Bubble from, but it won't load. I installed the two libraries they say the program needs, SDL_Perl and SDL_Pango, first. Then I installed Frozen Bubble itself. I've even rebooted, but the game still won't launch.

I'm not even sure how to go about trouble-shooting the installation, so any tips would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Try starting frozen bubble from the command-line and report back what errormessages you get.

Not to be rude, but did you ask the guys?

They are available @ #slackbuilds on

The guy(s) who wrote the script would be your best help.

Edit: From that frozen-bubble.SlackBuild

You will also need the package "locale-gettext", which is almost available from (it is sitting in the "pending" repository).

Thanks for the help, guys.

Bruce, you're not rude at all -- it simply didn't occur to me to check with the guy who wrote the script.

When you get it fixed, please post back what you did,
so that others who search and find your thread will
know how to fix this issue.

I sent an e-mail, so we'll see what happens. I'll post the results soon.

Thanks, everyone.

Hi all,

Alien Bob hit the nail on the head -- I needed the locale-gettext library package. I contacted the fellow who wrote the script, he was aware of the problem and the package is now in the repository.

I installed it and now the game works.

I've learned two things, the first is to try starting a program from the command line to see what errors show up (thanks Yalla-One), and to contact the people working on the repository when there's a problem.
