Question Slackbuild for Tomcat

Hi everybody,

I cant find a slackbuild for Apache Tomcat in one of the slackbuild repositories I'm confident in (mainly slackbuild.org, Robby Workman's and AlienBOB's).

I know there is a slackbuild on slacky.eu but there are some things I don't like in it, e.g. the use of requirebuilder.

Does anybody knows of a slackbuild following slackbuild.org packaging rules or should I try to make one and propose it to slackbuild.org ?

requiredbuilder is optional anyway, you could just comment that out, I'm sure.

Then I'll take a closer look at the script an see what I get.

Thanks for your answer.

I have a submission for slackbuilds.org almost ready. If you could take a look at it and provide some feedback, I would be able to finish it for final submission.
Download it here apache-tomcat.tar.gz

Every time I build a package using a slacky.eu slackbuild, I just comment the line with the requirebuilder command and it works.

Citing requirebuilder developer Stefano Stabellini:
Quote:
RequiredBuilder is a simple tool to help Slackware packages developers writing the slack-required file for the slapt-get's dependency checking.
So it only helps in writing a list of dependencies checked by slapt-get.

Although you have the option of using the SlackBuild, I use the stock Tomcat that comes with Netbeans. In the latest release it is installed in a seperate directory from the main netbeans directory. It can be run on it's own as well as being configured with Eclipse.

Thanks to all of you for your answers.

ppr:kut, I took a look at your files.

Unfortunately common-daemons doesn't build:
./commons-daemon.SlackBuild: line 55: ant: command not found
though I built and installed apache-ant first.
<edit>ant executable was not in my path because it's installed in /opt (I should have checked that at first), I made a symlink to it, then I could build && install commons-daemon and start tomcat using rc.apache-tomcat.</edit>

I'll give you more details in a private message. Anyway we are not in a hurry as submissions to slackbuilds.org are frozen till 12.2 release
