Slackbuild for Docky?

Does anyone know if there is a slack build for Docky? Nothing shows up in SlackBuilds.org I have not been able to find one, but I thought I would check before man-handling it onto my system. :)

If you don't want to build docky your self from sources you may choose to download an *rpm package convert it into a *tgz then you can install it directly into your slackware box as from SlackBuild. I have done it many times repeatedly since Slackware v.10 there was rarely any issue. Thus do it this way:

Download docky of any version you like, here is a page containing docky versions 2.1.x.x up to 2.2.0.8. After completely downloaded go to the folder:
Code:

rpm2tgz ./docky-2.*rpm
wait until conversion is completed, the output *tgz package shall be on the same folder it is converted. Then install it this way
Code:

sudo installpkg docky-2*tgz
docky should be available thereafter.

You will first install "rpm2tgz" if it is not yet installed, you can find it in SlackBuild.

Hope that helps. Good luck and enjoy.

m.m.

With dependencies like Mono and several Gnome C# libraries... I do not think that many people running Slackare will have thought it would be a nice addition to their system.
Vector Linux has a build script though, you can check there.

Try cairo-dock. I found it at slackbuilds and it works well for me

Thanks all... I will take a look at Cairo as well. @Alien_Bob: I agree the dependencies are a bit much for one app...

I tried out all different application launchers under the sun for my MLED system before finally deciding to go with Plank, a nice and unobtrusive application launcher developed by the Elemantary OS team. Works perfectly with the Xfce desktop. No hiccups, no bugs, no weird behaviour, just a nicely animated dock that works without getting in the way. I highly recommend it.
