slack64-current volume level weirdness

I'm running slackware64-current (updated as of 3Feb16). The problem I'm having is that the volume level changes almost randomly. I can reset the volume to a desired level, say 25%, but as soon as another application (Pidgin notification for example) accesses the sound device it changes the volume. I go back to the volume/mixer applet and the volume will then be set to some other value like 65%. This was a clean install from iso files downloaded from http://taper.alienbase.nl. Is there an option with Pulse audio somewhere that I'm missing that will stabilize the volume level? I also installed KDE packages and still had the same issues.

Check your .new files, because pulse was changed to add "flat-volumes = no", which should fix your issue.

Code:
l/pulseaudio-8.0-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
Set "flat-volumes = no" in daemon.conf.new by default.

Thanks! That fixed it.
