slack, webmin, & mySQL
first off, I got webmin installed and i have to say, its awesome, now i have a problem tho.
I went to servers > mysql and it says;
--------------------------------
MySQL is not running on your system - database list could not be retrieved.
Click this button to start the MySQL database server on your system with the command "cd /usr ; /usr/bin/safe_mysqld &". This Webmin module cannot administer the database until it is started.
---------------------------------
well i clicked it and it doesnt start, then I tried the command and it doesnt work, but I know for a fact that i have mysql installed, I installed the version that came with slackware.
so is there another way to start it? and can it be done with webmin? or do I need a diferent version of mySQL?

Have you done:
su mysql
mysql_install_db
?
Also, make sure /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld exists and that it is executable.

Similar issue where SQL won't start...
I'm having an issue similar to the one mentioned in this thread.
MYSQL will not start, please can you explain what the two commands above actually do as I don't want the databases I have to be lost or overwritten as the data is needed...
What do the two statements actually do?
My issue: https://unix.stackexchange.com/quest...it-back-online
Kind Regards,
Shaun
