slack programs in other distros

i'm going to be giving some distros a try, but there are a few slack programs i really love.

installpkg (not sure if that's what it's called)

Will these programs work on other distros?? And where can i get them (except swaret, i know where it's site is). Oh yeah, the distro i want to try first is crux.

Is crux Slackware based? I checked out the crux site but couldn't find anything mentioning if it is. This is important because all three of the programs you like are just for Slackware and Slack-based distros, like VectorLinux and CollegeLinux. IMHO 'rpm2tgz' is the demon spawn that should only be used if absolutely necessary. Before using it look around for a slackpack or compile the program from source and install with checkinstall. If you do decide to try a Slack-based distro 'rpm2tgz' and 'installpkg' (which is part of pkgtools) will probably already be included.

I don't think crux is slack based. Hmmm. Maybe i'll just stick with slack then.
