slack or slamd for my amd64?

I am wondering which to use.

Is there much of a boost with slamd64 for a desktop amd64 or should I just stick to good'ole Slack?

I decided to stick with Slack for my x2 3800+. I was looking at slam for awhile and seems like there was just going to be too many compatibility issues and other problems to make it worth the slight performace gain. Just compile a custom kernel on Slack and call it good.

Apart from the installation being a bit problematic (see various problems with enabling swap whilst installing), Slamd64 works fine on my laptop and I've had very few compatibility issues with a 64bit distro, since most of the important things have been ported over to the amd64 architecture for Linux.
