Slack 9.1 SMP 2.6.1-kernel

Hi folks,

I'm trying to build a 2.6.1-kernel with SMP support for dual CPU workstations.

One have Tualatins (1.13GHz) and one have XEONs (2.8 GHz)

But it is not working very well at all.

For the Tualatins is the SMP support working all the way up to kernel 2.4.24.

But for the XEON is the SMP support ending at 2.4.22.

Some one that have any idea how to proceed?:Pengy:

Best regards

hello,

so am i. i did a 2.4.24 kern install. i thought in enabled smp but i only still get cpu0 as the wrong cpu. so nothing changed. dual amd MP 1800+ and its reading only 1 cpu as an XP 1800+. if you have better luck let me know what you did.

Do you know if SMP is linked to hyper-threading ? I have a HT P4 and have SMP enabled, but because of this I can't use the APM module, so I use ACPI witch crashes my X server from time to time . So I want to know if SMP does anything for single cpu's with Hyper-Threading.
Thanks.

Hi XStorm,

My qualified guess is that SMP not is linked to hyper-threading. But you never know for shore when you hacking around. :)
