I dont know
I hope it aint dead...

I tell ya, Absolute is nice 13 distro
although the 13.0.7 comes with OpenOffice?!
and a big installed size

They should make a mini one as they claim Absolute is older hardware, etc

Zenwalk might not be dead, but its nowhere near Slackware in the Linux distribution map anymore, and its certainly not compatible/based/related to Slackware 13.0

heard that too brother

I gotta say I am impressed with Slackware 13, SalixOS, and Absolute 13.0.?

They are Top Shelf.

SalixOS and Absolute both seem to stay true to Slack...

I'm finishing up my various installs

now at 7 installs across 3 computers
3 slack's, 2 Salix's, and 2 Absolutes
Got 2 slack's, one Salix and both Absolutes on one 1.8ghz 768mb ram Emachines AMD athlon XP (MK7) 2200+ with Nvidia mx4000
Got Salix dual booting with Debian on my Toshiba lappy, 266mhz, 160mb ram, 4gb hdd(!)
Got slack 13 on my HP a810n 1GB ram, 2.4 ghz AMD athlon64 3300+, with crappy sis760 graphics(?)

Note Slack is like the ONLY distro I can put on the HP, every other distro just freezes or cracks the screen
sometimes even buntu with xforcevesa still freezes the desktop

Yeah, I thoroughly recommend Patrick Volkerding's version of Slackware.

sure, why not?

And for an older laptop, yeah, you probably will want to recompile to optimise for the hardware, if you want to get the most out of it.

Oh man... I've been seeing a lot of Debian users get upset when you mention Debian and Ubuntu in the same breath anymore. Tread lightly...
