Slack 13.37 KDE - not shutdown?
Hello!
Sometimes i encounter, my system not shut down. now is one of that times - i go "start" -> "leave" ->"shutdown", and nothing appear. in normal case there appear a "shutdown" window, where i choose - shut down or restart. but now it not appear, and as so i cannot shutdown system normally. in that cases i open terminal, and do from that "shutdown -h now", and system stopped and shut down, but that not be best way.
what i can determine, why i sometimes got that condition?

I had a similar problem sometimes on KDE 4.5.x or earlier version. The best thing would be, IMHO, to upgrade to Slackware 14.1 and KDE 4.10.5. Works as good as perfect.

If i remember right, similar thing happened to me when:
a) i used login on tty1-6 then startx, so i could only logout back to tty, not shutdown.
b) i didn't have MPlayer installed but phonon-mplayer as default backend (i think) and audio notifications on. The system then couldn't shutdown, because it waited forever for that logout sound, and nothing happened visually.

This really got me thinking if Linux is moving in the right direction.
Back to topic, a year ago, my laptop did not shutdown when the power cable connected. I remember shutting it down after disconnecting the power for a couple of months.
Additionally there is nothing wrong to use "shutdown -h now" as far as I know.
