slack 11, huge26.s kernel, internet and SMP issues
Ok, so I installed slack 11 again, used huge26.s, after installation, used the source and modules from cd 2, (regular 2.6.17.13 kernel, not SMP) and rebooted. Net and sound work, but only once CPU is being detected. so I run "make menuconfig" and enable SMP, change my processor type to PIII, save, exit, "make", "make install", "make modules_install" run lilo, and reboot. now I am showing 2 CPU's, and now I have no net or sound, which I did have before, didn't even go near them in the kernel config. What have I done, or what am I doing wrong?

can you modprobe your sound or nic module
/sbin/modprobe sound-module /sbin/modprobe nic-module what does dmesg say happened during boot when your module got modprobed? |
I am at work right at the moment, I will check on that when I get home. One other question I have is this:
were my procedures correct for modifying the kernel and installing it? Thanks |
