Slack 10, fresh install, mysqld start problem.
Just freshly installed slack, complete install.
Chose to start mysqld at boot time during installation.
But when mysqld starts, I see it starts but after only 1 second or two it shuts down with:
040816 20:48:50 mysqld ended
( well it shows the actual time but the 6 digits number is the same.)
And it does that no matter how I start it.
Any Idea?
Can some one give me a hint on that?
Thanx.

Read /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld
There you have the steps to follow to get mysql running.

Oops, corrected. Copied the links from another message on the exact same subject. The search directions were still valid. (Attempting to regain some dignity here...)

Thanx for correcting your links! The first one was the one for me! Now I got it to work.
Thanx.
For your information, I did search in google and in the forum but I probably did not look good enough.

No problem. Sorry, I did not mean to be hostile, not searching before posting is rapidly becoming my pet peeve though. (How many times can the question "How do I get my scroll wheel working?" be asked? The answer has not changed in the last 2 years.) If you say in your (initial) post that you searched and could not find anything I would be less likely to be snippy.
Later.
