slack 10.2 sound problems
Hi, i'm a newbie
moved from fedora 3 to slack 10.2, the problem is, in fedora 3, i could play music without any problems, i hadn't installed anything for that (like drivers), but in slack, it doesn't play sound, plz help me out

try typing into a terminal. it should open up something fairly intuitive. turn up the volume on the master one (if my memory serves), then try the music again.
to store the settings so that they work every time you boot, as root, type into a terminal.

Before doing the steps above, you might need to run "alsaconf" from a root terminal and step through setting up your sound card. You should not have to make any specific choices, and then run the steps above to complete the configuration.

Turn up Master and PCM. If you are on a laptop, you might also have to turn up the Headphone channel.

one more thing to add.
All of the channels are muted by default, you need to hit "M" to unmute. Turning up the volume alone will not unmute the channel automatically if I remember correctly.
