slack 10.2 - root - unable login

Hello

I'm fresh user of slack. So i've got a problem. Fresh install slack 10.2. After install before reboot I set root password. Reboot, start on runlevel 3, login as root and login incorrect - eh. I repeat login few times and can't login. Ok, maybe I set wrong password after install (it's little possible). Next step I try change root password on runlevel 1 (linux single). Egh. When I working on fedora or redhat it's working but on slack I still must login as root and false.
Ok second install system and this time I can login as root :). Fine - reboot the system and ZONG I can't login as root :/.

Please tell me something what's going on. Another - how i can chcange root password on slack for root on local console?

If need more information about installation i write what I know.

did you used "numped" while setting root passwd? Because you should be careful about Num Lock...

I think I had the same problem a while ago(slack 10.0)
even if numlock is on while setting the password don't use numped

I'm not sure but you can try

no, I said on setting your password because when it happened to me numped produced something like this for "12345" -> "~>[-`-;+)'="

hey why don't you try to install with a blank password? just hit enter tree times... then if it works just change.... and pray to don't happen again... gd luck
