Slack 10.2 not working with D-Link DFE-530TX+

I installed Slackware 10.2 today and everything seems to have gone OK except for one thing: ifconfig only shows "lo" and I can't get it online. I tried searching these forums and Google for my model network card without luck. There were a few similar topics talking about modules and stuff, but they were old, and I'm a newbie who doesn't understand any of it. :P

This card works under Linux, I've got one myself. Does "ifconfig -a" show an eth0 (usually, if there's no IP address assigned to an interface, it won't show up if you just do "ifconfig")? Try running netconfig (as root) and then "ifconfig eth0 up" and "dhcpcd eth0" (assuming you're using DHCP).

ifconfig -a shows eth0, eth1 and lo. eth0 is an integrated adapter that got fried a while ago. eth1 I guess is the D-Link.

I ran netconfig like it did during the install, then "ifconfig eth0 up" and got this error: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy

Neither dhcpcd eth0 or eth1 work.

Yeah, eth1 will be your D-Link adapter then. What kind of settings are you putting into netconfig?

I searched Google for that "device busy" error and I managed to get it working by turning off plug&play in my BIOS.

I broke something else now, but at least this particular issue has been resolved. Thanks for the help.
